Session Descriptio= n:

Objective: Our pan= el session will provide a tutorial and discussion on how the accounting educat= or acting as an expert accounting witness can make important contributions in complex litigation and classroom instruction. We will identify and discuss current issues in forensic auditing, tax, financial, and managerial account= ing, as well as computer litigation support, and computer based research. Partic= ipants will follow through case studies from legal challenges to selection of defe= nse counsel to overall defense planning to jury selection to courtroom strategy. The session will conclude with a mock trial demonstration and show ways to critique with the aid of new media. We will review best practices in incorporating these interactive techniques into the classroom setting.

Our panel will con= sist of attorneys, trial consultants, and practicing expert witnesses from accounting firms and academia.
